One of the most important documents for landlords has been updated and released by the government today.

The government's 'How to Rent' guide provides information for landlords and property agents about their rights and responsibilities when letting out a property.

The most recent version which was published in early August 2019 is now out of date and it is vital that landlords serve their tenants with the most up-to-date version.

If a tenant was ever to create a legal case against a landlord, the landlord must prove the document has been provided to the tenant.

The guide can be served in hard copy format or - with the consent of the tenant - via email in PDF form.

Failure to serve the document correctly, and to have proof of it being served, will invalidate any Section 21 (form 6a) served
